Flat Stanley Goes to Alabama!!!!

We took Flat Stanley on a tour around the square in downtown Monroeville, Alabama. The City of Monroeville is promoted as the literary capitol of Alabama. It is also the home of Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird, and Truman Capote, another well-known author. The courtroom in our old courthouse, which is now called Monroe County Heritage Museum, was used as the model for the courtroom in the movie 'To Kill A Mockingbird'. This also happens to be the time of year that the 'To Kill A Mockingbird' play is going on. Some of the pictures are from the set. In one of the pictures it looks like Stanley wants to audition for a part in the play. He also enjoyed having a look around the old courthouse and courtroom. And he was really impressed by the mural that depicts a scene from the book.

We also took Flat Stanley to one of our favorite stops on the square, Beehive Coffee and Books. It's a quaint little bookstore that has yummy Italian cream sodas. He had lots of fun browsing around the store.

Thanks Smith Family!!!!!! He is headed to Pennsyvlania next!! :)
